I had a good chat to my son’s Prep teacher this morning about the professional development I went to on Saturday. I started telling her about all the cool tools I had learnt about and she was able to give me some perspective of how that might play out in a real classroom. For example pop quiz’s such as Kahoot It can only work well if there are enough devices for each student or at least probably one between two. She also mentioned that with the iPad’s came the annoying factors of low battery power and a whole host of other obstacles that could interrupt the free flow of a lesson. So, this gave me new perspective on my learning on Saturday and more to consider. It is obvious that preparation plays a major factor in success in teaching in all areas, not just using digital technologies. Maybe to be an efficient teacher you always need a back up plan in mind too should technology fail you on the day.
